Yale Touts “Infection Control” Over Healthy Prevention – Part I Sally F, August 18, 2022August 18, 2022 Yale University is trying to guide parents on what and how to think when it comes to fall colds, flu, RSV, Covid, and any other viruses. Thomas Murray, MD, Ph.D, is the consulted expert, as well as Dr. Magna Dias. “…..fewer people are practicing infection control, even as the highly contagious Omicron and its subvariants (like BA.5) continue to circulate. Doctors believe that relaxing mitigation efforts could open the door to non-COVID diseases, which are behaving erratically—for instance, causing infections at odd times of the year. Point 1 rebuttal: “infection control” instead of “disease prevention” “My biggest concern is that we’ve seen a ton of viral infections just over the summer,” says Magna Dias, MD, a Yale Medicine pediatrician. “So, when we get back to indoor settings with kids being together again, it could mean that we will see more infections happening—both with COVID-19 and with other viral infections.” Point 2 rebuttal: infections do not equal hospitalizations, and are never cause for abject alarm. The words “could mean” begin to suggest fear into the subconscious. There are 11 questions that Yale News asks; Part I debunks the questions themselves. First – Which Viruses Should Parents Be Concerned About This Fall? Alternative – Which Common Viruses Can Parents Prepare For This Fall? Second – What Does It Mean When Viruses Appear During an ‘Off Season’? Alternative – What’s the Difference Between ‘On Season’ and ‘Off Season’ ? Third – Are Off-Season Viruses More Severe? Alternative – Which Viruses tend to grow more severe? Fourth – Should Parents Still Worry About the Coronavirus This Fall? Alternative – What’s the Risk Percentage For Covid Hospitalization? Fifth – What Symptoms Should Parents Look For? Alternative – Which Symptoms Can Be Treated At Home? Sixth – When Should A Parent Call the Pediatrician? Good question. Seventh – How can doctors diagnose a child when there are different viruses with similar symptoms? Unnecessary question, but meant to reinforce trust in the Medical Establishment over any non-pharma solution. Eighth – How can parents treat kids for these illnesses? Good question. Ninth – How can parents help their kids to stop coughing? Alternative – How can parents mitigate a child’s constant coughing? Tenth – Why are COVID-19 and flu vaccines important for kids and when should they get them? Alternative – What options, besides vaccines, can parents use to prevent at least some infections? Eleventh – How do you keep children healthy without worrying them? Alternative – How do you reassure children that sickness is a normal, treatable part of life? Part II will address the answers Yale’s experts give versus common sense.
