FAIRFIELD – Bob MacGuffie, Fairfield Republican, conservative activist and author, announced his candidacy for the 2024 Republican nomination for Congress in CT-4.
In his remarks, MacGuffie said “this election will be a referendum on Jim Himes’s 14 years in office. Mr. Himes has clearly failed his constituents.” MacGuffie contends the citizens of CT-4 are not represented in congress, but instead “Mr. Himes has consistently represented and explained the interests of the DC power elite when here in the District.”
MacGuffie noted that he “publicly warned Mr. Himes in 2009 and 2010 that his reckless spending votes would lead to a debt crisis and his vote for ObamaCare would lead to an upending of the healthcare industry, fewer healthcare choices, and massive increases in healthcare costs.”
More recently, Mr. Himes publicly self-praised his vote for the ‘Green Dream’ provisions of the so-called Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.
MacGuffie explained, “Votes for such mis-named 3,000-page bills, such as the Inflation Reduction Act have provided Mr. Himes cover for his alignment with the most radical elements of the Democrat party, which persistently direct, legislate and regulate the country through an unwanted ‘fundamental transformation’.”
“We can see daily that this transformation is shrinking American life for the vast number of Americans who go to work and make our great country function. This agenda must be opposed in its entirety,” MacGuffie said to Todd Wood of CDMedia. See BobMacforcongress.com for more details.
