URGENT: CTGOP bylaws vote is in about 24 hours. Sally F, April 17, 2023 If nearly all Republicans are against these 2 newer bylaws proposals, why exactly are they being pushed? Word has it the vote on the CTGOP bylaws amendments is TOMORROW, April 18th. There are four proposed amendments; two of them should concern every voting Republican, as these will absolutely destroy what’s left of the CTGOP, if they pass. One of the (big bad) proposed amendments: allowing for unaffiliated voters to vote in CT’s Republican primaries. Seth Keshel, statistics expert who analyzed CT election patterns, said opening the primaries will certainly sink candidate integrity. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize how much this will bungle up (to put it nicely) who wins and who loses. The second proposed amendment: “any Republican national committeeperson who seeks election to a statewide constitutional office (Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, Treasurer, Comptroller, Secretary of State) or federal office (US House, US Senate) shall, within 5 days of creating a candidate committee, resign their position as officer or national committeeperson. This subsection shall not apply to statewide legislative offices nor to municipal offices.” ABC NEWS – 7/18/16 – Coverage of the 2016 Republican National Convention from the Convention Center in Cleveland, Ohio, which airs on all ABC News programs and platforms. (ABC/ Fred Watkins) Let’s be clear: RNC members are among the most active, the strongest, and the best networked Republicans out there—if we want change, these are among the best candidates!! Every election cycle, many RNC committee members run for office; this amendment would kill off not only future CT RNC members to seek office, it would also discourage future CT Republicans from becoming RNC members and officers in the first place! What purpose do either of these bylaws revisions serve?? Who do they benefit, and why? It is glaringly apparent to everyone that the amendment to force RNC committeeperson resignations, for the sake of higher office, is due to a personal vendetta. This amendment alone is a self-inflicted death wound if it passes. The primaries are over. MOVE ON. NOTE: the previous bylaws amendment, which would allow the state central committee to direct funding toward a candidate before the primaries, COULD SURFACE AGAIN tomorrow night. The amendment was tabled by chairman Proto after it was clear most of those present on March 21st would be voting NO. If you are a Republican, you are urged to email or call your state central committee member IMMEDIATELY. On the two amendments above, AND on the previous proposed amendment which may resurface, they should vote a resounding NO. Remind them of the grassroots hellfire, the Prescott Bush humiliation, and the final, disastrous demise of the party to boot. If these two amendments are so bad, they are so to me, who was the person or group of person that came up with this ridiculous idea? What was the alleged purpose? Loading... Reply
Yes, unfortunately this has to do with – in short – sore losing. Rather than thinking about the future, the proposer of this idea is woefully cemented to the past. Loading... Reply
