Congressman Jim Himes periodically sends out information to his email list—below is his latest email, where he mentions “MAGA extremists” four times. Without specifics on what qualifies as “MAGA extremist” behavior, Himes uses a very basic brainwashing technique: repetition. In order for a word or term to be accepted, it simply has to be repeated.
Himes writes (emph. ours),
If you’ve been watching the news this week, you know we passed a spending bill to avoid a government shutdown, but MAGA extremists got into some trouble.
George Santos used campaign funds for Botox and porn sites. Senator Mullin threatened a witness with a fistfight. Former Speaker McCarthy elbowed a Republican colleague in the kidney. A Republican chairman called a Democrat a “smurf”. You wonder if some people will ever leave high school.
This kind of behavior undermines our dignity, our institutions, and our democracy. It’s disrespectful to the American people, whom we are elected to serve.
It’s getting hard to tell the difference between one MAGA extremist and the next. But the source of this unprecedented behavior is obvious: Donald Trump.
The election of 2024 will be a fight over the very fabric of our nation. But we will win if we stick together.
Chip in and help stop MAGA extremists everywhere, including right here in CT-04. Let’s make sure we do everything we can to take every MAGA extremist on the ballot next year to school.
Class dismissed (and have a good weekend!),
— Jim
