Guilford State Representative Moira Rader does a good job keeping us updated as to what she is working on in the Connecticut House of Representatives, i.e., she sends out monthly emails to constituents who have signed up to receive her emails. If you are not signed up, I strongly suggest you go to www.housedems.ct.gov/Rader and sign up to receive Moira’s legislative updates. Moira certainly makes no pretense about being neutral but rather tells us exactly what she thinks. Let’s examine her 7/2/25 email.
In the very first paragraph, Moira states, “As we celebrate the birth of our nation on July 4th and our independence from monarchy rule … we need everyone of us to speak up and stand firm in our belief in this wonderful, sometimes flawed, but ultimately hopeful country of diverse citizens, equitable beliefs, and inclusive values.”
“Monarchy rule” is a not-so-subtle shot at President Trump and a direct reference to the “No Kings” nationwide protest rallies on 6/14/25. Remember, these rallies were sponsored by “Indivisible”, the “Party for Socialism and Liberation”, and “Move On” amongst other groups that hate our County.
When Moira refers to “diverse citizens, equitable beliefs, and inclusive values”, she is referring to DEI which she fully supports in our Guilford School System. Her stated resistance to President Trumps executive orders to discontinue DEI in our school systems, may result in Guilford losing millions of dollars in direct and indirect federal grants.
Moira also says, “one of the most disappointing moments in (the recently concluded legislative session) came when House Bill 5002, a comprehensive and thoughtful housing bill, was vetoed by the Governor.” Doesn’t Moira realize that HB5002 would have ended Guilford’s local control over zoning and mandated public housing in Guilford from under 2% to over 20%?
Are Moira’s priorities, your priorities?
