Instead of riots, much of the Right turns to prayer
Perhaps to the surprise of the Left, emotional regulation and maturity is the standard reaction of the Right in the wake of almost-assassinations. Politicians and influencers weighed in after the attempt on Donald Trump’s life, calling for prayer and a solemn realization that violence does nothing to help any cause.
No riots broke out in our streets. No name-calling, rage, or hatred. No calls for ending ‘gun violence’. Indeed, the Right is showing itself to be the party of Love: for God, the nation, Trump, their families—and their moral values that hold society together, for the collective good.
Glenn Beck was somewhat emotional. Dan Bongino was too. Steve Bannon issued a brief statement from his jail cell. Vivek Ramaswamy noted ‘God intervened‘. Millions on the Right began to pray for the presidential candidate immediately after the shooting. To the Left, the religious Right looks foolish in recognizing that God, not the state, holds the power over life and death. The Right’s response is in their prayers, not rioting.

From the media to cloistered institutions, it’s typically quite difficult to fight against people who demonstrate that they love you.
The Right has long witnessed the Left’s rage and riots, endured the name-calls of “racist”, “white Christian nationalist”, “hetero-patriarchal bigot”—and the categorical list marches on.
They’ve been through demonizing and dehumanizing tactics—yet here they stand calmly, even after bullets go flying. They know violence doesn’t work, and have chosen Love as their path forward to Make America Great Again.
They’re setting an example, and in so doing, inviting the Left to join them.
