Rudy Settimi said he never expected to be running for office. His journey began when he discovered the Stamford school district was thinking of axing Columbus Day and Veterans Day.
The thought of not honoring those who fought and died for America was deeply troubling; so he got involved, attending school board meetings with other parents, and attending Stamford RTC meetings. Eventually, the RTC asked him to run for the 147th district, and he accepted.
Far from a career politician, Settimi is a family man who relates to the problems facing all voters: inflation, energy bills, community safety, and public education.

While he has applied for CEP funds, a formidable obstacle has been the very slow response [to filings], from the State Elections Enforcement Committee.
Settimi’s paperwork was filed on time, but one incorrect form meant he had to re-file. He’s waiting on the SEEC once again, which has taken longer than usual to respond, for many Republican candidates.
