GUILFORD—Kaileigh Roby was a senior in 2018 when she wrote a letter to the New Haven Register about being bullied at Guilford high school. Her letter claimed GHS was ‘not a safe space for children when it comes to bullying.’ The Register published her letter, and Fox61 interviewed Roby.
Roby asserted that during her four years at GHS, the administrators did nothing to help her, nor the other students who faced daily dangers under their peers.

However, she was quick to exonerate superintendent Dr. Paul Freeman. “I’ve already talked to the superintendent,” she said, “he called me and we talked about things. He was by far the most supportive person I have talked to in the school system…” At the time, Freeman wrote via email, “I am sure you will understand that I cannot comment on any specific cases or discuss any specific students.”
Dr. Paul Freeman became superintendent of Guilford schools in 2011; under his tenure, division within the district has reportedly grown. People “either love [Freeman] or hate him” according to one source who wished to remain anonymous.
